Happy New Year.
Well here we are at the beginning of a new & exciting year (enthusiasm abounds), I hope you all had a relaxing time and the mother in law has departed – or at least has ensconced herself in the other room and out of the way of the HiFi system. No doubt she has taken the opportunity of your enforced close quarters by telling you what a disappointment you have been to her and her hen-pecked husband (Reginald) and you should be spending more time helping with the domestic chores and not spending hours listening to your so-called music, of course it was much better in their days with the likes of Russ Conway and Frankie Vaughn (whoever they were) and in order to drive the point home she has brought their collection of Pickwick cassettes purchased from Woolworth back in the good old days when there was music that was worth listening to.
As you might have guessed I have had far too much time over the holiday reminiscing over times past and thank god we have moved on, my only sadness is that I have been unable to find a new pressing of ‘Souled Out’ – an album that got me through the worst of the ‘Mother In Law’ period.
I hope you all have a great year and for heavens sake don’t enter into discussions with your elderly relatives about music or you too will find MFP records given to you on your birthday.
Have a great year.
