The Reference 80S stereo amplifier continues Audio Research’s latest design effort in creating a vacuum-tube amplifier that not only redefines ultimate music reproduction, but does it in an incredibly beautiful package.

The 80S was created for the music lover who does not require the output power of its larger siblings, the Reference 160S stereo and 160M mono amplifiers. The 80S continues the design ethos, including dual GhostMeters® that float in front of four KT150 output tubes. Extruded panels, a vital part of the all-aluminum chassis, provide rigidity and beauty.

After two years in development, the new Reference 160M (REF160M) Monoblock Power Amplifier is built like no other, looks like no other, and sounds like no other amplifier that you have ever heard, but it is unmistakably Audio Research. It features a refined audio topology with fewer and better components in the signal-path than in previous designs, switchable Ultralinear/Triode operation, proprietary auto-bias, output tube monitoring and protection, an advanced power meter, and much more. This array of features has never been offered before in an Audio Research amplifier.

Audio Research is pleased to announce the Reference 160S stereo power amplifier. A vacuum-tube design, it follows in the footsteps of the internationally-acclaimed 160M monaural power amplifier, introduced in 2018, which has won multiple amplifier-of the-year honors from publications such as Stereophile, Hi-Fi+, and others.

The Reference 160S (REF160S) carries-over the stunning look of the 160M, with dual GhostMeters™ that float in front of the eight KT150 output power tubes.

The original Momentum Mono Amplifier was the first product designed and manufactured by the company and the latest version, the Momentum M400 MxV Mono amplifier elevates this iconic design to its greatest height. The Momentum M400 MxV models feature techniques and topologies initially developed and implemented in the Relentless Mono Amplifier. This fullest expression of the Momentum circuitry is reflected in the new model name, MxV. Those with a physics background will recognize that MxV or Mass times Velocity is the equation for Momentum.

The Relentless Monoblock amplifier is the latest manifestation of that passion, the result of Dan’s desire for an amplifier that maintains its harmonic integrity and expansive soundstage from 0 watts to 1,500 watts. The Momentum S250 MvX stereo amplifier delivers the extraordinary sound quality of the Momentum M400 MvX monoblock in a more affordable stereo design. The circuit topology and construction of the stereo amplifier mirror those of the monoblock, using the same ultra-efficient copper heat sinks with venturi cooling, the same 1% metal-film resistors, the same 69 MHz output transistors and the same fully complementary balanced configuration. The result is audio fidelity equaled by no other amplifier—except, of course, the Momentum M400 MxV monoblock itself. THE PROGRESSION MONO DESIGN combines two normally exclusive traits—remarkable power output and exquisite musical finesse. Power is essential to realistic sound reproduction. The Progression mono amplifier is the largest and most powerful the company has made, delivering 500 watts into 8 ohms, doubling to 1,000 watts into 4 ohms and doubling again to 2,000 watts into 2 ohms. Of course, it will play loud, but it is speaker driver control that is the most important aspect of this awesome power capability.

The Progression Stereo Amplifier extends the Progression family with a potent stereo amplifier. Leveraging our innovative Super Rail circuitry, first unveiled in the Progression Mono, the Progression Stereo amplifier exploits this unique technology delivering remarkable control and fidelity to any connected loudspeaker.

The 800 series of amplifiers from EAR has received widespread and consistent acclaim from users and reviewers the world over. However, feedback from some quarters suggested that there was a need for an amplifier with similar sonic prowess but just a little more power.
