Over the past 10+ years the amount of high frequency noise on our Mains power has increased dramatically due to the use of computers, routers, modems, wifi, switch mode power supplies, etc. The high frequency noise that is generated within our audio systems has also increased: DACs, Servers, Computers, NAS drives, Routers, WiFi, etc. are all connected directly to our audio systems.
At the International CES Expo in Las Vegas, Krell introduced the most revolutionary design change in its 33-year history: iBias™, a patent-pending new technology that uses the Class A circuitry preferred by audiophiles yet consumes far less energy than a traditional Class A amplifier does. Because iBias technology eliminates crossover distortion, it allows the low-level details, subtleties and spatiality of music to come through exactly as they do in a traditional Class A amplifier. Yet iBias also allows these new amplifiers to produce the nearly limitless dynamics that is the hallmark of Krell’s sound. Class A amplifiers have always been the preferred choice of audiophiles, and they’ve been a hallmark of Krell engineering for decades,” Bill McKiegan, president of Krell Industries, said. “But concerns about energy consumption have reduced some of the enthusiasm for Class A.

The Cadenza Black is the flagship of the popular Cadenza range of Moving Coil cartridges. It employs a pristine-cut Nude Shibata stylus with a boron cantilever. The effective mass of the stylus/cantilever system is extremely low due to the use of a very thin boron rod; this material is extremely stiff and even more lightweight than aluminium, making it a real premium component choice.
The Cadenza Blue employs a Nude FG 70 stylus with a very thin ruby cantilever. The improved winding process of the armature ensures better channel balance than any model that came before it. The styling is the same as adorned by it's kin, and the build-quality reflects Ortofon's 100% commitment to a reputable product, and happy customers.
The Ortofon Cadenza Bronze boasts a Replicant 100 stylus and a conical aluminium cantilever. The coil wire used is the famous Ortofon Aucurum wire, which is a gold-plated version of the popular 6NX copper wire. A Field Stabilizing Element, FSE, is used for optimal linearity especially during complex crescendo passages, making this cartridge perfect for classical genres.
The Ortofon Cadenza Mono is the last addition to the Cadenza range, and it brings high-quality pick-up technology back to the now often over-looked world of mono recordings. The Cadenza Mono is made with a nude fine line stylus and a cylindrical aluminium cantilever. For easy use the pins are connected, so you get the same signal from both pairs of connecting pins. The stylus radius is r/R 8/40 um.
The introductory cartridge to the coveted Cadenza series of high-end moving coil pick-up cartridges is the Cadenza Red. This stylish, high-quality cartridge boasts a nude fine line stylus with a cylindrical aluminium cantilever. The stylus tip radius is r/R 8/40um. The coils are made from 6NX (99.9999%) pure silver wire. An improved winding process on the armature allows a better channel balance for good stereo imaging.
Nothing demonstrates Ortofon's long-standing resilience more than its commitment to the refinement of analogue sound quality and its continued development of new cartridge models. Since 1948 Ortofon have introduced about 100 different moving coil models, with their latest being the Quintet Series.
